HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

Beaudesert Exhausts  is a privately owned Exhaust Manufacturer and Supplier based in Beaudesert in South East Queensland, Australia.

Brian Parker started the business  in 1980 and is now ably assisted by his wife Jane and 10 highly motivated staff.

The team have extensive experience in exhaust manufacture, particularly customized systems and the art of mandrel tube bending. The business supplies systems and components to the trade and an ever increasing number of retail clients who are discovering the benefits of  mandrel bent after market exhaust systems.

Beaudesert Exhausts pride themselves on their ability to provide customized solutions for performance vehicles and 4WDs using the unique mandrel bending technology. The team specialises in suppling 4WD bolt-on mandrel bent exhaust systems to enable you, the customer, to fit onto your vehicle with ease.

KEY EXPERTISE MANDREL BENDING

Brian and his team are well aware of the problems associated with large diameter thin-wall steel tubing in that, round dies used in conventional press bending cannot bend it without collapsing or crimping the tube to some extent.

While this might be acceptable for regular automotive exhaust systems, for high performance any reduction of pipe size creates a restriction which, in turn, reduces power and economy.

To overcome this Brian invested in C.N.C. mandrel bending machines to bend pipe without restriction which means increased airflow into, and out of, the engine.

The CNC mandrel bending machines use a pair of half-round steel dies to hydraulically bend the outside of the tubing. The difference is that the mandrel bender inserts an articulated steel "stiffener" (the mandrel) inside the tube to keep it from collapsing. It's much like a series of three or four metal donuts (held together by a ball-and-socket and spring arrangement) just a hair smaller in diameter than the inner diameter (i.d.) of the tube.

Most exhaust systems on 4WD and commercial vehicles will require several bends. The larger the tubing the more severe the crimping will be with regular tube benders. A major benefit of mandrel bending therefore is the increase in the size of diameter of the pipe.
